Hello,

My family will be coming down to Columbus for a concert at the Lifestyles Community Pavilon towards the end of this month. Just wondering if their are any good Breweries/Microbrew places to stop for eats and a brew while we're in town.

Thanks,
Mark

A few blocks east of the Lifestyles place you'll find Barley's Brewhouse. It's right on High St. They serve up some of the best British ales you'll find in the Midwest. Try to show up on a Friday, if you can. They plop a firkin cask down on the bar and serve up some great brew from it. Check out their website to see what they'll have when you're there: http://www.barleysbrewing.com/downtown/

I highly recommend their house Pale Ale, barleywine, 4 Seas IPA, Scotch Ale, and RIS. The ESB, which they brew sometimes in spring and autumn, is also great, though it seems to be a rarity anymore.

Look like a very cool place. Thanks for the link! I think that is right by where we are staying.

I agree! I prefer their other location (just a short drive), but they share the same beer!

Their House Pale is a HUGE hit whenever I take it to parties. Their available brews change on a daily basis though :(

Barley's is good. I love their Scottish. I am a huge fan of Elevator. (http://www.elevatorbrewing.com/) Elevator is also a nice place to eat depending on how much you want to spend. I love Elevator's Dark Horse Lager, their Heff and something else but its been a while since I lived in Ohio and I am forgetting. Whenever I visit my parents, I make sure we have time to eat and get a few beers at Elevator. If its football season we go to Barley's Smokehouse (its on the other end of town) and get some great brews while eating good food.

Gordon Biersch (sp?) http://www.gordonbiersch.com/locations/columbus-oh has a place somewhere in town but they aren't a true local place. There is also the Columbus Brewing Company http://www.columbusbrewing.com/pages/home.html but I can't remember any of their brews.

Out of those places, I like Elevator's brews the best.
