I just brewed an extract kit from Austin Home Brew and put it in the fermenter. It is Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout kit and the OG was 1.052(exactly what was reccomended). It started fermenting fairly vigorously within 7 hours and continued for a total of about 24 hours. Now it appears the yeast has done its job and there is not much going on in there other than everything settling to the bottom. This seems like the fermentation was too quick.Anyone have any input ?

This is normal. You had healthy yeast and a good, nutritious wort. Now just let it sit for two weeks while the yeast finish the rest of their work and you'll have a nice stout.

That seems perfectly normal but stuff is still going on in there, leave it in your fermenter for 4 weeks. Take a gravity reading, then take another 24 hours after that. If it didnt change: Bottle it. (or keg)

You are just fine. Toss the directions and let it sit for 3 - 4 weeks so the yeast can clean up after themselves and you will be rewarded with a real nice brew.

Edit* That dang Bugeater beat me to it.....again.
