San Diego Beer Week

For those of you in San Diego who didn't know, we are halfway through Beer Week (http://sdbw.org/).

Today at Toronado's San Diego Kern River Brewing Company will be from 1pm to 5pm followed by Rob Rodd with Allagash from 5pm to 9pm. (http://www.toronadosd.com/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html)

If you can get there check out the KRBC Just Outstanding IPA. It's got a killer hop profile.

I went to Backstreet in Vista for some Beer Week specials last night. They had cask conditioned Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard, cask conditioned Stone Smoked Porter with chipotle chiles, Alesmith Yulesmith and Alesmith Evil Dead Red, all for $3.00 a pint.

The Yulesmith and Evil Dead Red are really good, I'm always stoked when they are released. The cask conditioned Oaked AB was pretty good. The Smoked Porter with chipotle chiles was not good at all. I don't like chile beer to begin with but this was over the top spicy. The smoked porter has a fairly strong smoked flavor but the chipotles completely overwhelmed any flavor the beer had, instant unbalanced heat.

wow how was this beer week? Are you still alive?

I was there for five days...it was amazing. Went to many events. Such a great time, going back next year for sure.
