How to store yeast?

I just received my first ingredients kit, including yeast, but will not have the rest of my equipment for a few more days. Is there anything I should be storing in the refrigerator? How long does yeast usually last until it goes bad?

Stick the yeast in the fridge. If the hops are pellet hops, stick them in the freezer. The yeast should have a best by date on it; dry yeast usually lasts a year, liquid about 6 months (although I recently revived a vial over a year old).
