Just did a Pumpkin Ale - had a hard time finding pumpkin. Grabbed the smaller baking pumpkins from the local farmer's market.

My local grocer had loads of them. Make sure you get the smaller, rounder sugar pumpkins...

Many have come to the consensus that the canned pumpkin (100% pumpkin, no flavoring, no artificial anything) produces a better taste. I have only brewed with canned pumpkins but would like to try whole ones. It is just much more work.
