Just got done brewing an Oktoberfest and just pitched the dry yeast as is at 50F and didn't make a starter (don't have the equipment). My OG was 1056, is it really a big deal to pitch a starter with a lager?

ditto on the pitch two packs. Your still going to make beer either way. But two would be better.

I brewed an Oktoberfest with an OG of 1.060 a few months ago. Pitched 2 packs of Saflager 34/70 and fermented 9 days at 52-54 F, then 2 day D-Rest at 68-70. Was at FG in about 11 days. I'd pitch the extra pack if you have one and would anticipate no problems.
