So, I tried my first batch of Apfelwein tonight. With such a simple recipe, you wouldn't think I could screw things up, but...

As I added the last bit of apple juice, the juice overflowed the carboy. A lot of the yeast also flowed out. Some yeast is in the carboy, but it might be half of the package.

Should I:
  • Just leave it and relax
  • Go to LHBS tomorrow and get more yeast

Adding yeast would increase the risk of some sort of infection, but without enough yeast, I might end up with just extra sweet apple juice.

Anyone been here before? Thx.

the little bit of yeast that made it in will make baby yeasts. then they'll make baby yeasts and so on. like jmsetzler said,"itmay just take it a tad longer to get started..." so ya you are fine

Thx - Quite the day... a boil-over and a yeast-over. Looking forward to the (in)famous Apfelwein.
