Title sums it up pretty much. How do I tell beersmith that I want to steep the grains?

It's been a while since I've done an extract recipe and used beersmith, but I believe if you select 'Extract' for the type it knows you are going to steep them

Yep, that's correct. 'Extract' assumes steeping of grains. Easily verified if you add a grain (or other ingredient) which requires mashing, the ingredient will be marked with an exclamation point (!) and note that it must be mashed.

Change the recipe type to partial (or all grain) and the notation goes away.
