Wow....made a starter for my weizen that i made and i can actually see a whirlpool in the carboy, its going off like crazy right now. Saw fermentation after 2 hours. Ive never had it that fast. :ban:
 
starters are good for many things, but one of the best is you dont have to wait as long to see fermentation and then you can relax :)

i guess this was an aimless post, but i had to share my excitement with someone...
 
I understand. On my most recent batch, I made a starter (not my first) but I used it on my first big beer (OG 1.75) and fermentation kicked off within 8 hours (probably sooner, but I was asleep). I was SO excited to see my bucket look like it was about to burst and krausen spewing out of every hole and crevice. I know it made a mess, but it was an impressive show no less.
