Depends on a few factors. Do you know the production date of the LME? Is it on the can or the jug? Do you mean once it's been opened or just how long it can sit in the jug/can?

If it's from midwest, morebeer, austin or northern brewer, they sell a lot of their stock so the turnover on new product is pretty good. I'd say you have a few months before it starts to go south on you, but i'd use it sooner than later. If it's going to be a while before your brew day, just order in your supplies about a week before your brewing.

I got my can of LME from Midwest (Muntons Bitter) this month and the expiration date was Aug 2013 so in this case I had approximately 8-9 months.
