My 'Best Laid Plans' (see recipe dropdown) is a completely munich based oatmeal stout and it gets rave reviews. Give a munich based stout a try, you won't be disappointed. :)

I appreciate the recipe, and I'll try something like that. I've done sweet stouts which have been well-received, but I've never done an oatmeal stout.

I tried Brad's recipe and it was pretty good. Mine came out a bit too astringent but my LHBS has a higher than normal roasted barley so its hard to adjust for at times and this recipe had a good bit of chocolate and roast.

I'm about to brew a doppelbock that's uses the vast majority of its base malt as munich with some pilsner and dark crystal.
