Thanks to my thermometer all of the sudden being off by 5 degrees on the last 2 batches. I mashed at 147 on a bitter and a cream ale and ended up making to BMC clones. They taste just like BMC. I am hoping to push them off on some friends that enjoy that kind of stuff. I just wanted to vent a little.

Yeah, a low mash temperature can really reduce the body and malt flavor. I'm a little surprised the bitter didn't do better. Was it an Ordinary Bitter?

Thought I did the same thing on my first beer last year. I was SHOCKED... and dissapointed. But as it aged, it got more flavorful, just didn't get any more body.

Might just try and dry hop it for some flavor/aroma

those are both really light ales in the first place.try a heavier bodied beer. you might not be achieving good efficiecy and this could cause the same sort of problem. but you made beer so i would drink it

Oh, for some reason I was thinking 157, not 147 lol. Makes sense now
