Its best to procure a sample and send it to Ward Labs (or similar) and have the standard brewing battery of tests run. It is less than $25and will be specific to your source.
 
start with your town's website. Some towns have very detailed reports whereas others have only the basic water quality report which won't be of much help.

Ward Labs is the go-to for most brewers.

You also want to find out if you can expect your water source to change with the seasons. The water quality report should list where the town is getting its water from.
