Concerned About Inaccurate Water Report

My local water supply chemistry sheet states the pH as 9.7. When I test it with standard pH strips, I'm seeing more like 6.5 - 7. Huge disparity.

I'm brewing in 7 hours with water adjustment calculations based on a pH of 9.7. Should I adjust my salt additions? Should I add nothing and get my hands on a water profile testing kit for future brews?

In that thread, the guy's pH actually was that high -- but the point is you don't care about the water's pH. What does the report tell you about alkalinity?

You should be making adjustments based on alkalinity, not water pH. That is probably in your report as well.

If your water supply has changed recently, and the pH really is different, it does not necessarily mean the alkalinity has changed significantly.

If you post your report, there are folks here who will tell you more than you ever wanted to know.

you likely have low mineral water which allows the pH to change easily. Don't worry.
