After ~week of fermenting in primary, 2 different batches were starting to smell strongly of vitamins. I racked it to another carboy. I distinctly remember reading somewhere about a vitamin smell. Can anyone help? They do smell better now that I re-racked them.

well, racking after a week in primary is a good way to get a stuck batch of mead. that was a mistake.

a week old batch SHOULD smell yeasty. Next time, before you panic and do something, check first. Alcohol tends to reliably make itself, if you just have the patience to let the yeast do their thing.
