Hey Guys,

I am brewing a mini-mash version of an IPA recipe I got from Austin Homebrew. I racked it to the secondary last week and noticed a strong fruit scent from the carboy. Is this normal with an IPA? I checked it again yesterday and the fruit scent, although a bit lighter, was still there.

Could this just be from the hops, as I did not strain the wort as I pitched it into the primary?

I had a very active week of fermentation (in primary 2 weeks) with reasonable temp fluxuations (65-70).

Thanks guys!

Bob

IPA using Cascade hops(?) will always be fruity as hell while you're making it. That calms down after some age.
