I'm using the gator grit fine right now. I just want to make it presentable. Not perfect. Id hate to have someone ask to see what I brew with and show them some rusted old keg. In the end, it'll do it's job, so not too hung up on it.

Both my kegs are at the same stage as yours, and that's where I've left them. I think the swirls look kind of cool. Plus, gator pads and polish is pretty darn expensive to do a good job.
I know this way out of left field but....
When I saw where you are from (Folsom) all I could think was that Johnny Cash would punch you in the left tit for asking if your brew kettle was shiny enough.
