Quick question, can I mount a fridge compressor higher than the cooling lines? The compressor would be mounted upright; I just would bend the cooling lines to be underneath it.

Background of the project:

I have gutted a dorm fridge and plan on using the compressor and cooling lines to chill a fermentation chamber. The only problem is the only place the compressor could fit is on top of the chamber. I am just making sure it will work before I start bending the lines.

Probably not. Oil can be pumped out of the compressor in this situation so it would run dry of lubrication and the oil could cause problems in the system. I only did repair and did not engineer these systems, so take that with a grain of salt.
