Going to buy ingredients do my first BIAB AG batch. I'm doing a 2.5G batch of Bee Cave Kolsch:

4lbs 2 row pils malt
1lb 6oz wheat malt
WL029

Beersmith used a little more malt than if I just scaled the recipe down, kind new so now sure why exactly it did this. Original called for 7lbs and 2.5lbs for a 5.5G batch.

Should I have my LHBS double crush the grains or add a little extra figuring this is my first attempt and my efficiency will probably not be spot on?

You can do it either way. I prefer a double crush. I only have a 9 gallon pot and need all the extra room I can get. Especially the bigger beers.

Double crush. My LHBS doesn't have much experience with BIAB, it's mostly a hydropnics shop, but he said he had a tighter than usual grind. That led, among other things, to 64% effeciency for my first BIAB. I'm double crushing from now on.
