I heard a little bit about this on WIP sports radio on the way in to work today.
Seems it has something to do with Delaware being grandfathered in on Sports betting due to some kind of parlay bets in the 1970's ? But now, they can only allow sports betting if its a parlay bet again?
Also - no betting was allowed on in-state teams - so you can't bet on the Delaware State Blue Hens
I guess my taxes are going to have to go up even more to compensate.
Seriously, everything I am hearing about the plans to balance the budget in NJ is just to find more creative ways of taking it out of the taxpayers pockets. I see little to nothing being done to reduce spending or reducing government. Even the plan for government worker furloughs doesn't sound like it will work. What I am hearing the plan to make that back is to give overtime to workers while the others are off to "cover for them" so in the end no money is saved. Every plan even if it does not directly come from my pocket eventually down the line it will.
EXAMPLE: Cut funding to local municipalities.
Where do you think that money is going to come from? Might as well just take it and be done with it instead of creating all these stealthy ways of taking money from you in the end anyway.
Sorry for going off on my own personal rant.
People are going to throw their money away no matter how illegal you make it. Might as well take a cut if you can.
I'm all for it. I hate the drive to AC.
I do like that they snuck table games in as well. You put a craps table in, and I will be there.
Much better, though, than Maryland's lame "slots" that finally got allowed - only to end up where there are so many problems it looks like we'll never get them anyway!
