I am going to brew my first belgian style ale this weekend. Last night I made my yeast starter. Can anyone confirm that this WLP570 has a sour smell normally? So far I have only used the California Ale yeast which, has a very different (doughy) smell to it.

Thanks

Last time I used it I got a marmalade/orange like fruitiness. And just a slight tartness in the background. I'm using it again in a Golden Strong soon.

I am going for a lemon ginger saison. I could not get saison yeast for this batch so I went with the golden ale yeast. It went crazy for three days then slowed down. I am almost 3 weeks into the primary and there is still some activity from this yeast. Will it ever end????
