WOOT! Just made an Irish Red Ale (partial mash, extract)! OG was 1.58. Just pitched the yeast on it at 70.4 degrees. I did this one RIGHT! Got my temps right, pitched the yeast at the right temp, sanitized EVERYTHING! Was patient. Here is what was in it -

Briess Sparkling Amber Liquid Extract 5 lbs, 0 oz
Briess Munich Liquid Extract 1 lbs, 0 oz
Weyermann Cara Hell ® 0 lbs, 8 oz
Crisp Crystal Malt 60L 0 lbs, 8 oz
Brewers Gold Pellets .5 oz @ 60 mins
Kent Goldings, UK Pellets .5 oz @ 15 mins
Kent Goldings, UK Pellets .25 oz @ 5 mins
SAFALE S-04 1 ea

Hops smelled SO good! I think this is gonna be a good one. I hope anyway. LOL. Didint record it, though. Had a friend who had never had home-brew over. He left a little over served...LOL. He stuck with it for the whole 3-4 hours, though. They just left (its 3:10am here...). I think he will be our next homebrewer. Hes already talking about wanting to do one.

It has been a GOOD night.

Sounds awesome! I have been brewing like crazy to get my pipeline built back up. I brewed a hopped up version of Bell's Two Hearted, a coffee oatmeal imperial porter, and will be brewing a Rye IPA this weekend. I started brewing this past July, and I'm hooked!

Good luck with your brewing and keep us posted!

lol. May-retta... home of the Big Chicken!

remember; GA says 50 gallons a year, so GET BREWING!

good luck and welcome to the obsession!

Nice work. Sounds like a good one. And it sounds like you have a good plan for your pipeline.

Not to nitpick (just a point of fact), but I don't see anything you mashed... So this is extract plus steeping grains. Still nice work. Let us know how it turns out! Sounds like a tasty recipe.

You are right...extract plus steeping grains. I posted this at 3:10am...I was tired. LOL
