Just throwing a line out to see if I get any bites. Working on putting a recipe together for Ithaca's Cascazilla and just thought I'd see if anyone else already had one that they have tested and enjoy. Thanks for any and all help!

I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. Has anyone tried brewing this? Was in the fiinger lakes in September and loved this beer. Would love to make it.

you know i would like to brew this too. had it last night at a homebrew club meeting in berks county and it was awesome.

im with coal cracker...anyone got info

I really didn't enjoy this beer, it was like bitter, grapefruit syrup, but it looks like BierMuncher's recipe would be really close.

Never had the beer, but from Ithaca's site, here's the basic ingredients used:

IBUs: 50
ABV: 7%
Malt: 2-Row, Crystal, Black
Hops: Cascade, Chinook, Crystal
Dry hop: Cascade, Amarillo

Not saying that BierMuncher's is bad or anything. But the recipe could have changed in the 3 years since this thread happened.

i cant get the ibus and abv and more importantly the color with the black. I came up with something like this:

Type: All Grain
Batch Size: 5.00 gal
Brewer: Tbone
Boil Size: 6.41 gal
Boil Time: 60 min
Equipment: Brew Pot (10 gal) and Cooler (52 qt)
Brewhouse Efficiency: 68.00
Ingredients

Amount Item Type % or IBU
12.25 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 83.05 %
2.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 16.95 %
0.25 oz Chinook [13.00 %] (60 min) (First Wort Hop)
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (Dry Hop 3 days)
1.00 oz Cascade [4.50 %] (60 min) (First Wort Hop)
1.00 oz Cascade [4.50 %] (Dry Hop 3 days)
2.00 oz Cascade [4.50 %] (30 min)
1.00 oz Crystal [3.50 %] (10 min)

Est Original Gravity: 1.072 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.018 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 7.01 %
Bitterness: 51.7 IBU Calories: 220 cal/pint
Est Color: 17.1 SRM

I am considering this recipe. Although I think the grain bill needs to be smaller and sugars coming elsewhere..cuz this to me sounds big in comparison to the clean cascadey almost ipa taste.

Thoughts anyone?
