I made 2 same batches of pale ale the other day with the exact same grain bill and hopps with all the same aditives... I dry hopped bowth in the keg one with a hop bag and the other loose in the beer...

Why did the loose leaves give me a great taste and the hop bag one taste like grass clippings...

It was actually grosse to say the least :(

The only difference between the 2 batches was the dry hopping technique.....

What do you guys think...
 
Did you weigh down the hop bag with something to keep it on the bottom? The only thing I can think of is maybe the ones not in the bag floated on top the whole time. Maybe causing some oxydation? Maybe drying out or not getting fully submerged...Weird. Maybe one of the pros here will have some ideas.
 
how much of the keg hopped one have you drank? it's probably just hop particulates that made it thru the bag

also, was the dry hopping the same temp/duration for both?
