Is there a difference between LME and DME on the Lovibond scale? Im trying to piece together a recipe and am curious about the color difference between the 2.

Not really from what I have seen/used.

Sidenote FYI along those lines: I was taught when formulating recipies, to always use light extract (LME or DME) and use specialty grains to adjust the color. I was told to do this so that replicating your recipie is easier. Colors will vary from brand to brand.

there is a free one....do a google search for Brew Calculus.

I use BeerSmith. Worth every penney and really user friendly once you learn your way around. there is a free trial of it.

LME is supposed to be kept refrigerated, othewise it darkens
with age, so if your LME is not fresh it may not have the color
it's supposed to.

I use this free calculator a lot:

Yeah you are right I had the name wrong. I'll still stick to my beersmith though
