Fermentation Temp Regulator w/ Window A/C Unit?

I see that everyone is all about converting mini-fridges and chest fridges into temperature controlled fermentation boxes, but... What about a small window unit with a digital temperature controller (e.g. you can set the actual temp so it will turn on and off as needed)

I would contain the fermenters in an insulated box, and have a hole for the a/c window unit.

Any reasons why I havent see anyone else talk about doing this? (besides my limited research and time on this forum)
