Does anyone have any good suggestions for fitting a cooler MLT with a thermometer? I was using my brew kettle as a mash tun, and now have moved onto a cooler MLT. I have the exit valve on it, but I want to incorporate a thermometer into the cooler so I can monitor the temperature without having to open it up to check.

I was thinking of just drilling a hole slightly smaller or about the same diameter as the thermometer and push it through. How would you seal it if it leaks? Silicone calk?

Any suggestions???

Thanks!

You could use a cooler thermo bulkhead. They make them for coolers and kettles. $10.80 here. http://www.northernbrewer.com/weldless.html

My guess is this design uses rubber o-rings like their thermosight. I didn't like it, so I made some changes. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=28815

I'm sure The Pol will also chime in with his DIY solution using a rubber stopper crammed in a hole in the cooler.
