I want to start growing hops this year. The question I have is, I will be buying a house by next year. Can i just dig them out of the ground and transfer after they fall back? Should I wait until I move into my house? I would rather not as I want to get started this year.

Please advise.

Thank you,
Trent

Plant them in a big pot. Then you can just take them with you, pot and all.

how big of pot? 4x4? Then after a year I an dump them into the ground?

A one gallon pot would be enough for the first year. Once the bines die back for the fall, you could either leave the roots in the pot or pull them out and store them in your fridge. I'd just leave them in the pot and pull the whole ball out for transplanting.
