Made a Belgian strong and accidentally forgot to add my 2lbs of table sugar. So the day after it was already fermenting, I made 2 cups of sugar water and poured it in my wort after it cooled. My gravity before the sugar was 1.062. Is there a way to estimate my adjusted gravity after I added 2lbs of table sugar?

Thanks.

Sure. Just go back to whatever program you used to come up with the 1.062 SG and add two pounds of sugar.

According to qbrew (handy for things like this) for a 5 gallon yield the adjusted OG would be 1.080...

Cheers!

Thanks! I didn't use a program. I used a hygrometer and took a reading before I pitched the yeast.

Sugar is about 40 points per pound per gallon so 80 points divided by 5 gallons is 16 points. 1.062 plus .016 = 1.078...pretty close to the software calculation.
