I've not brewed on my herm system yet. I have a temp probe at the exit of my mash tun and at the end of my herms coil before the wort goes on top of the mash. Will I regret not putting one in the middle of the mash.

If you are recirculating your mash constantly, all you need is the MLT-OUT probe. I have noticed my bottom drain HLT and MLT will have about a 2*F difference. I have a probe in the bottom output of my MLT as well. I just set my HLT about 2*F above what I want my mash temp to be and let it ride...
 
Beautiful. Thanks for the reply and info. I'm hoping to complete my herms soon. I know there will be some learning curve. I just don't want to have to make a big system change once I think I'm done.
