ok you got 10 dollars now do you buy a good six pack ex. dog fish or do you go for cheep and if you do what do buy ? my vote is for good old steel reserve 8.1 avb gets the job done. what is your pick?

Depends upon your definition of 'gets the job done.' If you want to get a good buzz, go with Old Steel. Cheap and effective.

trying to balance taste with cost. there is a lot of crap out there. if you got to drink cheap with some taste what would that be.

ok steel reserve is not the best but at 7 dollars a 12 pack where i live. dont get me wrong i love my homebrew and great craft beers. but there are those times when you are short on cash.

Man, you guys get six packs of craft beer for under 10 drakmas? I live in the wrong place.

If I had a tenner, i'd try to get a growler of something local,or get a four pack of sixpoint 16's. Or just keep the ten, and drown my sorrows in porn.

around here you can get craft beer six packs for $6.99-$8.99 standard (of course there's some really good solid stuff for $9.99 or above but we can usually get a six pack of good craft for $1-$2 more than BMC

I wouldn't take a free steel reserve. If I wanted to slam booze like in a vegas hotel room or whatever, I'd get a little bottle of jim beam or JD.

At that point why drink beer at all and just switch to cheap vodka. I can't believe anyone would drink Steel Reserve for the taste. People drink it to get drunk cheaply. Much cheaper to just get a bottle of cheap vodka. More bang for the buck.

If I had a 10$ I'd be splurging for some Unibroue (GREAT local micro-turned macro brewery here in Quebec). Most grocery stores carry 2-750ml bottles for under 10$. Definitely go with some "Maudite" and "Trois Pistoles". Both clock in around 8% abv and are absolutely fantastic.

You can get six-packs of local stuff in my part of Virginia for $8. Flying Dog's Raging ***** provides a pretty good bang for your buck.

Agreed, and if it were that cheap around here I would drink more of it. It is an excellent beer. I think Krogers in town has it for 11.99 a four pack. :(

A six of a Belgian like New Belgium abbey gets the job done for me at $8.99 for a six pack at a NC grocery store. I think it is 7.4.

Where I live (Michigan), you can't touch a "good" six pack for under $10. Even Bell's is $12 or so.

Occasionally, at the local gas station/deli (that's in Wisconsin) they have New Glarus for $9.99 a sixer. But not all that often.

That's why I started brewing.

Either a 4 pack of strongbow tall boys, a sixer of something from cigar city, or a bomber of The Czar from Avery brewing. Each is about $10, and if I couldn't afford it I'd save my money until I could.

4 pack of Unibroue La Fin du Monde or Trois Pistoles. I fell in love with the stuff when I was in Ottawa a couple years ago and now seek out all of their beers. $10 for four packs here in Colorado Springs, or you can get bombers for around $7-$12.

Find a grocery store that lets you build your own 6 pack. It's $8.99 here and they let you build with some pretty good beers.

4 pack of Sierra Nevada Torpedo tallboys. 7 bucks. Enough left over to hit up the dollar menu at taco bell.

I could rock a sixer of SN IPA that would be nice. However I am currently rocking a sixer of Kona Fire Rock PA today, also under a tensky.

Sierra Nevada or Sam Adams usually work pretty well for budget craft beers. I'll even go for Michelob from time to time. I enjoy the Amber Bock quite a bit, but haven't tried many of their other offerings.

Is Bud still doing the American Ale? It was clean if a tad bland, and while it's not my favorite PA, it'd do in a pinch. If they're still making it, it wouldn't surprise me if you could get a 12'er of it on sale.

If you are going to go with Sierra Nevada why not get a 4 pack of Hoptimum coming in at 10% or a Life and Limb 750 ml and drink with some class. I agree though, if you are trying to get drunk to just switch to the hard booze.

Around here if I'm lucky [and its in stock] I can get a sixer of Saranac Imperial IPA for under $10. Gotta love Wegman's.

Not that short.

If I really needed to get a cheep drunk I'd just go buy a bottle of black velvet, but I'll just not drink if it ever comes to BV or steel reserve.
