I'm making a 10gal batch of Marzen OG 1.055.
I need about 4L of starter. I have 2 x 2L erlyenmeyer flasks, and stirplates.
Here's what I'm thinking. What are your thoughts.
1. Pitch 2 vials of yeast into a 2L starter and grow to saturation (mr malty says it will require 2 vials into 1.3L starter if doing 5gal).
2. Split starter into 2 flasks, top each off to 2L and grow again to saturation.
3. Let yeast settle in both, decant liquid, pitch slurry.
Also, fermenting temp for yeast is 50f. I know everyone has different thoughts on starter temps, I'm thinking these starters will be made around 55f, unless anyone has other ideas.
