Star San Storage

Can I store mixed star san in an empty keg or will it etch into the stainless steel if left for a long time? If I can store it that way, how long?

I know I've heard of storing mixed star san in plastic buckets, but my plastic seems to get 'slimy' if star san is left in for a long time. I assume this is the acid eating into the plastic, true? Do I need to get special types of plastic bottles to store it in?

One of my SS pots has some etching from 1 week of contact with star-san. Don't know how quickly etching happens, but SS doesn't seem like a good storage material.

I store mine in an HDPE 5 gal bucket from Ace Hardware and have never noticed sliminess... I'm going to go check now.
