I thought I read about this before but cannot find a thread on it now. I have a chest freezer large enough to ferment in and store a few kegs. I want to divide and insulate part of it with stryofoam (basically build a box inside the box) and use a pad heater from Williams brewing to warm that space.

The idea is I can use one ranco controller on the freezer itself, and set the unit at around 40 degrees for storage, and use a second ranco inside the insulated space at fermentation temps.

Has anyone done this? What should I expect?

Thanks.

I was just thinking the same thing the other day. It would be nice because I want to be able to lager on one side and keep the other at ale temps with some sort of heat.
