I recently made an IPA with about 80 ibu (edworts stone ruination clone I think) and reused the Safale-05 cake for an american pale ale, which is still in the primary. I was not too worried about imparting additional hop flavor on the APA since both brews use the same hops.
Now I am about to brew Yoopers Dead Guy Clone and was debating pitching it onto the same cake. My only concern is that the DGC is not supposed to be as hoppy as the others and using this cake may impart unwanted funk into the brew.
Thoughts? :mug:

Decant a small amount of the yeast slurry, and make a fresh starter.

Another option, if your APA is still actively fermenting, you would steal a little of that, and make a starter out of that.

Either way, the hops present in the yeast shouldn't adversely affect your beer.

I toss out about 2/3rds of the cake after the first re-use. A couple quarts is all it takes.
