I just transferred a chocolate coffee stout to the secondary ferment. I soaked a vanilla bean for three days in vodka. My OG was 1.054, The gravity when I transferred to the secondary was 1.01. Will the Vodka bean in the secondary change my final gravity much? Has anyone done this method, and if you did how did your beer turn out?

It shouldn't really change your gravity at all, at least not enough to make a difference. One to two beans seems to be a pretty common amount, from what I've read. Just looking into trying it for myself though, so I can't tell you much yet!
Did you cut it open or anything? Some people say to... some say it doesn't matter.

I did not cut it open... I did not realize they are about six inches long! I am interested to see how it turns out too.
