Should CO2 lines and associated fittings be sanitized when installed? I have always done so in the past, but am wondering if it's necesary? Can bacteria be carried into the beer through the gas? It takes forever for the excess moisture from the sanitizer to work its way out of those lines, could that be a problem?

never sanitized my lines.
never had bad kegged beer.

as long as your beer isn't flowing back into the gas line, there's nothing in there to provide food for any bugs.

I don't do it at home and we don't do it at the brewpub. As Professor said, not much able to thrive in the total CO2 environment...
