I like the Ska. And if you like that, try Zydeco and other Cajun music. And if you like that, you'll soon be saying, Cajun, Mexican, esp Banda, and Polka sound so similar. It's like, it's like it's all Ska, man

I've always been into Punk and Ska/Punk. I do like the traditional Ska style but I haven't been exposed to much. I like it a little more than Reggae just because the tempo is a bit faster and upbeat.
I grew up a child of the 70s, discovering ska in the 80s through Madness, The Specials, Blondie, and Evan Dorkin's excellent Pirate Corp$ comics! I didn't really like third-wave ska for a looong time, except a few random Offspring tracks, until I heard Save Ferris and my mind was changed.
When Madness put out their Dangermen album and I finally saw the roots of their music through those fantastic covers, I finally came around and started learning more about first-wave ska (which i didn't realize pre-dated reggae by about a decade). I picked up a couple compilations at the library and heard my first Desmond Dekker, Toots and the Maytals, and my new favorite ska single, Mille Small's My Boy Lollipop
was listening to some of the Trojan Skinhead Reggae box set today. and the Skinhead Revolt comp while cleaning my basement. on merfrackin vinyl.
I haven't heard any of the new "Scratch". I do like old ska a lot, and a lot of the newer roots bands such as Midnite, Groundation, 10 Ft. Ganga Plant, etc.
I was really into John Brown's Body in the 90's. And if you've ever heard of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, I used to hang with those guys years ago. My sister was real good friends with them. The only thing I don't like is dance hall reggae and it's relatives. Just not for me.

Also been listening to a LOT of Phyllis Dillon lately. She's fantastic.
She is really great.
I always enjoyed this cover...

The Gaylads are another story.
That had a little bit of a gospel twang to it too. Very nice.
here's a rare cut. Not really rocksteady, but probably the quickest tempo dub burner I've heard. One of my favs.
