On Nov 11, I picked up 8 gal of UV pasteurized cider in "milk jug" style plastic containers from a local grower. 6 gal I put into a carboy to ferment, 1 gal I put into the fridge to drink. The last gal, I did not open, and left it in the garage where it has been 50s - 60s.
Tonight when I got home, I noticed that there was about an inch of foam in the jug I left in the garage. The bottle was swelled so much I could not use the carry handle.
I put the jug in the kitchen sink and opened it carefully. The pressure released, i took a sample, and had some decent carbonated low alcohol hard cider.
I was just surprised to see that pasteurized, unopened cider would turn hard so fast.
