Nice paddle. Did you use any wood glue? I see screws so I'm not sure. I know most wood glued state "not intended for continued submersion." It looks kind of old school though. I like it.
walnut oil works very well for this sort of thing and if you let it dry well it is flavorless.

From a local hardwoods store. They cater to woodworkers.
I think I'll make the shaft a bit wider on the next one.
Woodcraft? I should check them out... they're local just didn't think about it!
This i made this one today, i used paduak hardwood.
Well guys, you have inspired me. I just finished this mash paddle that my dad, brother and I started over Christmas. Made from a 36" 4/4 scrap board of birch... Good times!
