NOTE: This is not my recipe. It was first published in 2005 to be brewed in honor of Benjamin Franklins 300th birthday on 17 January 2006. The recipe posted here reflects the adjustments that I have made to the previously published recipe.
5 lbs six-row
3.75 lbs Extra Pale LME
3.15 lbs Flaked maize
2.15 lb Biscuit malt
1.65 lb Special Roast
.25 lbs Black Patent
.25 lbs Molasses (dont use blackstrap, .25 lbs is about 1/2 cup)
2/3 oz Kent Golding 60 min; pellet; 5.5% AA
1/2 oz Kent Golding 45 min
1/3 oz Kent Golding 30 min
WLP 007 Dry English Ale Yeast
Mash: 3.5 gal at 155*F
Sparge: 6 gal at 170*F
The FG seems high to me, and it was a little sweet. The maltyness really came through. This was a much better batch than my attempt or 2006. I'll give it another shot for next year.
