I just popped the top on my first homebrew, and its amazing, even the SWMBO likes it (she's a coors light fan). It was brewed for her enjoyment mostly.
I call it Princess Pilsner.
2 Gallon Batch:
4 lbs Liquid Pilsner Malt Extract
3/4 lb corn sugar
3/4 lb brown rice syrup
2 Grapefruits, liquified
1/3 oz Saaz hops @ 90 mins
1/3 oz Saaz hops @ 60 mins
1/3 oz Saaz hops @ 20 mins
WLP800 (No Starter)
1.5 tablets of beano
Pitched/fermented for the first 12 hours warmish (70 degrees)
3 weeks primary @ 50 degrees
1 week Diacetyl Rest @ 65 degrees
Lagered for 3 weeks @ 35-40 degrees
Its a bit more bitter than I expected, because of the grapefruit pith, next time, I'm going to do better to not boil those and strain them out better.
No bottle bombs, good carbonation, nice lacing.
I'm super excited that it worked (it was my first real brew, and not from a kit) and I'm enjoying a glass now.
