I hate not having a local HBS store. I was supposed to go to St Louis and stop by a HBS store on wednesday, but plans fell through. SO, I'm looking at the following substitution dilema.
What I'm brewing:
Belgian Tripel
10 lbs Pilsner malt
2 lbs vienna malt
3 lbs belgian candi sugar
2 oz tettnang hops
What I have:
3 lbs Pilsner malt
3 lbs 6-row
20 lbs 2 row
10 lbs Maris Otter
14 lbs Wheat malt
4 lbs 10l Crystal
6 lbs light DME
2 lbs vienna
3 lbs Belgian candi sugar
2 oz chinhook hops
3 oz Fuggle
1 oz Saaz
3 oz Cluster
1 oz Willamette
Here's what I have in mind, I want to use the 3 lbs Pilsner malt, 3 lbs 6 row, and some of the 2 row to make 10 lbs of grain. Do you think that will jack up the flavor?
For the hops... would Willamette and Saaz be a good substitution for Tettnanger hops?
I'm using WY3787 Trappist yeast.
Thanks
