While at the supermarket I saw some jack Daniels oak chip for sale in a bag. They are supposedly made from jack Daniels oak barrels. Single packet of US-05 for a HG beer?

05 is a pretty hardy yeast one should be enough. if its bugging you too much, make a starter. I think as long as you pitch at the right temp you'll be fine. Personally, I like liquid yeasts better.

just thinking about an all grain batch

All grain makes a huge difference in the taste of the beer you brew. If you do it right, you will not be disappointed. my Recommendations: our temps get a accurate durable thermometer that wont break in the middle of the brew process. watch your temps closely. use strike water online temp...

    Ale Yeasts for Cold Temps

you should not ferment ales at those temps. go with lagers or get a temp thermostat for $50-80 dollars or if you are short on money right now get a cheap timer that plugs in the wall and plug the fringe in an have the fridge turn on and off at different time to see if you can get a decent temp...

    P. candidum - culture from rind

its a lot of work making cheese and all the wait time is the worst of it. waiting all that time and then not getting the result that you expect is upsetting and discouraging. I thing I will just take your experiment into account and when I make my next cheeses buy the right cultures. The last...

    Too late to double pitch?

the nutrient may help the yeast propagate quicker, so yes. As for waiting till the next day, the quicker you get that yeast in the beer the better.

wow...a year in primary! I don't know how that would go down, I 've read that after so much time yeast starts to break down I 'm not sure how long it takes or if temp varies the time frame in which this happens. I would think within a year. I have never tried it for that long so I would think...
