    Getting the most out of hops

    is it bitterness you want or hop flavor. If it bitterness use a hop like magnum and double up on flavor hops. Magnum or other high alpha acid will give the bitterness and your flavor hops can shine thru.

    Aerating The Wort

    I use just an air pump and to plastic air stones from pet store. I'll aerate until the foam reaches the top of the bucket. This and stir plate my yeast I'll have active fermentation within hours.

    I'm not new to this, but feel your pain about Mr. Beer. In past have done several of them and come to the conclusion that Mr. beer is doing a dis service to home brew. They use cheap stuff but charge you a lot. Try any number of kit beers form any good home brew supplier.
