    Funked up kegs

Perfect description... I'll disassemble before I tap my next keg.

    Funked up kegs

I bought new gaskets when I got the kegs. But maybe they're due.

    Funked up kegs

Also, I have 7 kegs and only run 2 at a time. Some kegs from a 10 gallon batch taste fine while the second came out funky. Right now 2 beers on taste perfect so I assume all is clean. But some kegs just turn the beer sour.

I sanitize the lines after every keg is kicked and once a year use beer line cleaner and remove the taps too. I cleaned them yesterday with very hot pbw for an hour each and they're sitting with Star San in them now until I fill them next weekend

    Funked up kegs

Isn't that really similar to pbw though?

    Funked up kegs

I've been kegging for over 6 years and just recently have been getting sour beers from a few of them. I use pbw religiously and sanitize before filling. I disassemble them and clean with a keg washer each time. Anything stronger than pbw suggested for a deep cleaning?

That's sad to hear... this is hands down the best hobby ever and I truly feel like this system has lived up to every one of my expectations. If I had a drawback it would be the cleaning but I only brew by myself. But that being said, I love this system.

It's not going to keep all of your grains swirling around, just the top. The grain bed will settle and filter.

I have been getting very good recirculation throttling back my pump and stirring pretty well after about 10 minutes of flow. Hitting my numbers as well. Just don't never ever ever add 2oz. Orange peel without a bag to hold it. Ask me how I know?

Thank you that is a fairly straightforward recipe and certainly open to tinkering. This is 10 gallons right? Thanks and cheers

I'm looking for a decent NEIPA recipe. That's a huge amount of hops. I love that the whirlpool gets them together so nicely. Please tell us how it ends up. Cheers

Ok thanks... That's another thing I need to dial in... My water volumes. The spreadsheet has been high which leads to lower o.g and waste. But I still love this thing. Thanks

Another great brew day this morning. What are you guys using to clean the element? I'm just using pbw but it's still kinda crusty. Thanks

I don't necessarily think there needs to be so much turbulence in the mash. I used to get nice conversion from just letting my mash sit in a cooler for an hour. I love this system for equalizing temp and recirculating at the same time but conversation is gonna take place with or without...

This weekend I brewed a 5 gallon batch and it worked amazingly with a 21 lb grain bill. But I had at least a gallon of additional wort after filling my fermenter. I'm still trying to master full volume mashing and the boil off rate. The mash process has been the easy part, but final volume but...

My recipes are calculated at 75% and my gravity samples were above that. I mashed in with the pump slowly recirculating and stirred well and left it alone. First batch pumped over the rim of the basket and I shut it down and let it equalize then started slowing it down. After that I did use a...

Well today was my inaugural brew day. 10 gallons of pale ale and 10 gallons of a Belgian pale. Only hiccup was I needed to throttle back the pump on the first batch. Hit my numbers on the nose so I'm loving this baby! Cheers

I haven't used mine yet but I just received a 20 gallon unit. I plan on big grain bills with 5 gallon batches and more session strength beers I'll double the output. No sense in trying to kill my unit in an attempt to see what she can handle imo.

For the record their packaging has improved from what I saw earlier. Mine arrived today!

I asked them the same question and they definitely recommended going larger. You can still make 5 gallon batches or double them with no issues. And big grain bill smaller batches will also not be an issue. My 2 cents
