I went below 58 three times and got a putrid rotten strawberry like aroma. Just awefull. Great around 60-65 though.

I live in Plymouth. This is common knowledge. They landed in another town to start but we had better quality water. Also, all the natives were dead and that left a literal ghost town for the pilgrims to move into and plunder (not so common knowledge.)

Lower mash temps will give you a more fermentable wort, leading to a lower FG and higher ABV...usually. You can mash in the 140s up to about 160. Lower can also lead to a drier final product while a higher can lead to a sweet. A lot of people on here prefer 148-150. I like 153-155 depending...

I use stainless steel tea balls. You can get a set of 6 pretty cheap. They hold over 1 oz and are just awesome.
