    William's Brewing

I know it is more expensive than other credit cards, but since AMEX is big in the gift card business, they are basically refusing to sell things to a lot of people. Northern Brewer and Austin Homebrew both take AMEX. Williams markups on their items must be high enough to still make a profit...

    Brooklyn Brew Shop

I started brewing on these and they are kind of a waste of time and effort. The instructions are pretty bad and customer service is non-existant. The kits are pretty pricey too, you'd be better off buying grain, hops, yeast from your LHBS. And getting about 8 beers with the same amount of...

    Brooklyn Brew shop kits

I started brewing with their one gallon kit and I don't think they are worth the time or money. You get like 8 beers out of each batch and it takes almost as long as making a 5 gallon batch. The instructions are pretty weak. Example: they have you do the mash on the stove top, constantly...

    priming sugar in primary fermentor?

I just pour it in and give it maybe two or three very slow stirs at the top of the carboy. I don't put the stirring spoon too far down into it which seems to help. Usually the trub does not even move. I let it sit for a a bit and then bottle.

    priming sugar in primary fermentor?

I always pour my priming sugar solution directly into my primary and bottle right from the primary. You won't kick up any yeast from the bottom if gently stir it in for a few seconds and let the solution settle for a few minutes. I have always had great and very even carbonation amongst all of...

Question: Bulk Priming in Primary Fermenter, No Racking

I have always poured my priming sugar solution directly into my primary fermenter and then racked directly into my bottle and it has worked great every time (30 or so batches). I usually stir it in gently and let it sit for 5 minutes with no problems. The trub at the bottom is pretty settled...

    William's Brewing

I have had okay experiences with Williams, but here are two really silly problems they seem to have: 1. They don't accept American Express! Most of the other major online homebrew stores do take it. This is a problem since AMEX is huge in the gift card world. Williams lost out on a few...

    High Pitching temperature

I know this has been covered a bit before, but I have a more speicifc query. I pitched Wyeast Ringwood ale into a porter when it was too hot, around 90 degrees. I put it right in my basement where it a steady 64 degrees and it seemed to cool down pretty quickly (within about 4-8 hours...

    Polarware

I bought a Polarware Made in the USA 42qt brewpot from Williams Brewing and was disappointed to to see that it was not welded on the inside and that the ball valve would not screw on all the way. These two issues seemed to leave spaces for crud to hide and bacteria to ruin my beer. Plus the ball...

    Polarware 42qt problems

I am really disappointed with this brewpot. I went with it instead of the megapot since it is made the USA, but I guess that does not mean that much any more. Does anyone know if older version of this are welded on the inside? I swear I saw an odler one where the two holes are welded both on...

    homebrewstuff 32qt stainless kettle

homebrewstuff 32qt stainless kettle Is this thing any good? At only $99, with both a valve and thermometer, its seems to good to be true. Is it worth paying the extra $60 for a megapot? I am looking to get a cheap boil kettle for 5 gallon all grain batches. I am used to cheap stuff, I have...
