Recipe Help - Sour Apple Gose

Out of curiosity, did you enter the competition of Nepenthe in Baltimore? Either that, or several homebrew competitions in Maryland decided to add chicken flavored Ramen... If we're in the same competition, I look forward to meeting you there and sampling your brew. Don't worry. I won't steal...

    Adding dry hops

I would definitely dry hop. I do with the Coopers IPA. I generally use 2-3 ounces of hops in a tea and another 1-2 ounces in a dry hop for 7 days for a nice and hoppy IPA with a very American IPA flavor.

Bottle Conditioning Time for Wheat Beers

I condition everything in the bottle for a minimum of 3 weeks, even low ABV brews. I let stronger brews sit longer than that.

    Incredibly strong IPA - Help!

The can + 3 lbs of dry malt extract or 3.3 pounds of liquid malt extract is pretty much the standard. Adding 3/4 lbs. of additional sugars should have little or no affect on the flavor. I generally toss in a pound of dextrose or clear candi sugar to cans on top of the malt extract to boost the...

    Coopers kit

I use Coopers cans for most of my brews as a base. I usually add specialty grains, hops, other additives, and change the sugars up from the recommended ones. I have yet to brew anything that both myself and my friends are not very willing to consume with them. When I am a bit confused, I hit...

    beginners kit dissapointment

I frequently use Coopers and Muntons cans as a base for brews. By adding hops, specialty grains, and using different yeasts; one can create excellent beers with these kits. My friends and house guests never have problems helping me drink my beer. It is also better to use malt extract as opposed...

Please critique my Simcoe IPA recipe

It looks a bit light in the hops department in my opinion for an IPA. I'm not sure how much of the hop aroma and flavor will come out with less than one ounce used in the entire brewing process. I generally use three ounces for aroma and flavoring and one ounce for dry hopping alone. That's just me.

    DuClaw Euforia

I have really enjoyed most of DuClaw's beers. This one is no exception. However, I did not see a single difference between this one and New Belgium Brewing's Fat Tire Amber Ale. My suggestion is to skip this one and pick up Fat Tire and save a few dollars a six pack. It's overpriced and...

    Coopers lager Question

3 lbs. of DME is a good choice to add to the can for a 5 gallon batch.

Just stopping in to say hi

I generally use Coopers or Muntons cans as a base for my brews. By the book, they or OK. With the addition of hops, yeast variations, specialty grains, various additives, and different fermentables; these make some excellent batches.

    Good brands for LME?

Try Muntons out. I have only used their wheat and bitter single cans thus far, but was pleased with the outcome of both. With 3 lbs. of wheat DME or 3.3 lbs. of wheat LME and Wyeast 3068, the Muntons wheat makes an excellent hefeweizen. I did try the Muntons Highland Heavy two can kit and...
