    What happened to Homebrew Finds?

The last few days I have been unable to access Homebrewfinds.com. Does anyone know where it went. Today google says it can't find the site.

Any experience with Biofine with a lager?

I brewed a german pilsner a few weeks ago and spaced off the moss. I bought some Biofine and had a few questions. How much are you folks using per gallon? I have researched this fairly well, and cannot seem to find consensus. My second question would be this; after a diacetyal rest I am in the...

Kolsch yeast for a wheat beer?

I have a hybrid helles ready to keg and was thinking about re-pitching the wyeast 2526 into a wheat beer. It seems like I read somewhere that some of the wheat yeast strains were derived from the kolsch. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried this? I was thinking about a lightly hopped maybe 60% malt...

I enjoyed reading this book. A great deal of useful information. Is there a newer book available with similar updated info?

    Kloudy kolsch

I didn't use moss or whirlflock when I boiled, so here I am three weeks later sitting at .010 and wondering if this beastie will clear. I just put it in at 38 for a cold crash and was thinking about racking it to keg on wednesday. The question is do you think I should add finings or gelatin or...

I have 10 lbs of pilsner, and a pound each of; munich, vienna and carapils. I can harvest wlp029 or buy something else. I only have cascade left but my lhbs has a good selection of hops. I can only ferment down to about 62 degrees. What can I make? Thanks

    1st All Grain, smoooth!

MY first AG went off without a hitch or hiccup. Shout out to Bobby M, used his tutorial and his suggested double sparge method. I made Ed Worts Kolsch. Brewers friend calculator shows 85.2% efficiency. Start to cleaned up took 5 hours with a 90 minute boil. All grain sure makes a longer day! I...

    What efficiency should I expect?

My first AG will happen on Saturday. I don't know what efficiency to expect out of my system. I ordered another 1.5 lbs of my base malt to compensate for possible low efficiency. If I get great efficiency, I will have a higher gravity beer. What would you do. Thanks, Jim

Is a Blichmann burner worth the bucks?

Will this burner pay back in propane savings? Most of the reviews seem very positive, and I like the height with the optional legs. There are a lot of blichmann haters out there any admirers? Thanks, Jim

    Pitching on a yeast cake

Good morning! I plan on brewing a kolsch using WLP 029. Anyone see an issue with racking a batch of helles onto the yeastcake? I have never had a sanitation issue, so I don't foresee that as a problem. Opinions welcome. Thanks, Jim

    Thermometer, Burner and stand

So close to my first all grain batch! Took a hard look at my stainless king cooker burner and stand, I am not sure I feel comfortable with that much boiling weight on that flimsy of stand. I ain't scared of nothin'... But 7 gallons of bubbling burn ward do give me pause! Any suggestions out...

    Measuring water and wort volumes

I have been reading a great deal lately, like many others, I want to move to AG. With that in mind, I have been collecting equipment and advice in roughly equal amounts. How do many of you measure your liquid volumes, a sightglass while nice, is not in my recent economic forecast. It seems if I...

    1/2" nipple in rubbermaid MLT

I have searched the forum, I have shopped on-line, I have slogged across the net. Will a 1/2" nipple work in a 10 gal rubbermaid cooler? I see Fly uses 3/8" x 1 1/2" nipple, but the sellers seem to sell 1/2". I would like all stainless, so I ask again will a half inch nipple fit without drilling...

    Dry hopping in the keg

I just tapped an Alpha King clone, while the bitterness was about right, there just was not a big enough hop nose. I see several of you dry hop in the keg using various methods. How long do you leave the hops in the keg? I have noticed many posters citing grassy flavors from prolonged exposure...

    Airlock alchoholic

Put my first mead into primary Saturday, pitched two packs of rehydrated K1-v116 at 70 degrees. Was very surprised at the speed and vigor of the fermentation, the airlock was like a machine gun. I am used to the airlock emissions smelling good ( ya know like hops and sweet wort). I finally shut...
